2019 Retreat!

Our Retreat was amazing.  A huge amount of work by all attendees and the following photos say it all.  This post is pure eye-candy deliciousness.

C completed her aboriginal quilt top.  Lovely use of bold print fabrics.

Cobblestones to make a lovely male quilt.

One of the J's completed this fun pinwheel eye-spy for a lucky lad....

F was making neo-natal coverlets...

J, who made the cute dog toy at the May 10-10 made this cute little cuddle bunny...

The other J, completed her Japanese Fabric 'scrap' quilt.

Another J was sewing down the binding on her quilt from a pattern by Jen Kingwell.

The same J who made the pinwheel quilt (above) also completed another fun kids quilt...

16 patch quilt using stash from home...

M completed her quilt top from last years Friday night project which was snowball and nine-patch.  Love the fussy cut flowers...

Solid block colour quilt....

Another 16 patch quilt top from our Friday night project....

Someone was lucky enough to have Missouri Star fabric and made a small zip bag.

Pele Mele - J's top is almost ready for assembly.

Another Pele Mele.  This lady is drawing up all of her own designs.

B made a "Dancing Nines" quilt top (pattern by Bonnie Hunter).

Carpenters Star in progress..

Forest Animals - a pattern by Elizabeth Hartmann.

Cat Quilt - after many attempts and some tired sewing, the borders were completed for a very elated J!  :)

To finish off, L made this fabulous solid block colour quilt.

The Retreat was very successful, and even though there were some hiccups, all who were able to attend had a great time.  Next time I need to be quicker with the camera to make sure I get all of the show'n'tell.

May Gathering & AGM Night

During May, not only is there our normal monthly gatherings, plus the upcoming Retreat and the 10-10 Sewing Day, we had some very prolific members too.........

Starting with an update on Dear Jane:

J is making Quilted Diamonds, from the book by Linda Franz.  Essentially, it is Dear Jane blocks put into a diamond shape.

The next two photos are updates of blocks by B and W....

S, who joined the group this year brought along her hand pieced Dear Jane which wowed all of us.

Then R was taking it easy with some sashiko...

And, what would a blog post be without hexagons?  Hexagons abound in this group!

Here is Pele Mele by H.  Pele Mele really can be anything you like.   The shear variety we are seeing each month since the class back in March from our members is astonishing.

J was a 'tutor helper' at AQC and she really liked what the tutor was showing with the embellishment of clothing and has re-purposed an old denim jacket to make something fun and modern.

C brought along her three little girls to embroider their faces on.  They are so cute!

AGM
Our AGM was held at the night gathering.  All Committee Office Bearer positions have remained the same with some changes to the General Committee.  Details have been updated and circulated to Members.

May 10-10 Super Saturday

Saturday 4th May saw Kilmore Quilters start their sewing extravaganza month!  Beginning with a 10-10 Super Saturday sewing session and soon to be followed by our regular monthly gatherings and the annual retreat.  As per previous months, the show'n'tell once again lived up to expectations.

Aboriginal prints are often full of amazing patterns and this quilt used a large patterned piece of fabric for the centre, with the same fabric to make 'one block wonder' hexagons for the border applique.

W, completed this quilt top on the day - it is huge!  Stunning with pretty pinks and purples.  Pattern is by Katrina Hadjimichael.

The primary colours of this centre panel by H are for the same quilt pattern as above.  Both versions look fantastic.  The great thing about a few people making the same pattern is the variety of colour choices and how completely different it can look.

Here, the one of the J's is using the Pele Mele pattern from our class back in March and is adding some of her own hand-drawn designs onto the clamshells.  Pele Mele is a great pattern to simply experiment with what you like as there are no rules or limitations to what you can do.

When W completed her purple quilt above, she pulled out her long term hand-sewing project - "A Star A Day" pattern.  After making a star a day, it is assembled into panels before being assembled into a complete top.  If you scroll through back posts on this blog, you can see how it has progressed.  We are all awaiting the final completion of this quilt top with anticipation!

At the March 10-10 Super Saturday, A had brought along her foxes as a large pile of pre-cut pieces with the pattern to assemble them - here they are - ready to go to their new home.  They are so cute and maybe a little bit cheeky.  (Pattern by Elizabeth Hartmann)

To finish off, one of the J's made this super cute puppy for a baby to come.  So cute, we all wanted one!

Who's up for more sewing this month?
