March Super Saturday!

Once again we were able to get-together for a wonderful day filled with 12 hours of sewing and friendship bliss - a 10-10 Super Saturday.

It was a very productive day with quite a few quilt finishes and a good lot of progress made on other quilts....

JB completed this very soft and delicate quilt for a baby.  

BH continued on her Dear Jane Quilt.  A project which was stared and has continued to run since 2016 as a "block of the month" within our group.  All participants had to purchase their own copy of the book.  Unfortunately the photo does not do the "WOW" factor of the colours justice.

JD attached the binding to her fun and funky Dr Seuss Quilt, also intended for a little one.

And... while JD was at it, she completed this quilt top from snowball and 9 Patch blocks for another little one.

ML continued to assemble very large clamshells together and then added the lovely grey border to complete the quilt top.  

The newest member of our group came along to learn how to make patchwork, and under the guidance of another member, she had completed this quit as you go log cabin piece and then turned it into a cushion cover.  Awesome for a "first timer"....

And to finish up....  Do you smile at a crocodile?  JG was busily completing the stitching around her animal applique blocks.

Blissful Retreat... ahhhh...

We are so lucky to have been able to escape for a few days together, on Retreat in the hills, not too far from home.  I'm sharing some photos of the area and the stunning fungi which was found on our walk, some might say trek, through the fern forest....

The trees are tall, the undergrowth lush and full of ohh..., ahhh... look at that moments.

 

The late afternoon sun made for intriguing shadows and tree silhouettes, but also a perfect reflection on the pond which we looked out onto from the sewing room.

And, as if the scenery couldn't get any better, these little toadstools showed that fairies really do live at the bottom of the garden! 

Inside, we were treated to an huge sewing room, with lots of light and plenty of space to set ourselves up in.  A full table each ensured productive sewing time, while being close enough together for chatting.

Now for the Show'n'Tell - hope you've got a cuppa ready, this is very photo heavy and well worth the look though all the pics.

 

 

 

 As you can see, it was a perfect weekend for all of us with a big variety of projects, no cooking and no housework.  Purely delightful. :)

August Gatherings....

Both the day and night gatherings of Kilmore Quilters may have been small in number, but oh boy, the work and talent of the members is second to none!  Lots of variety and lots of show'n'tell happened this month.

Drum roll please.........

C has started her "Rotherfields" Greys quilt.  

The central medallion is appliqued to your and will finish at 20in square.  

Then there are many, borders to add.  This is the beginning of a masterpiece.

R pulled an UFO out of her cupboard.  

It has appliqued and pieced panels which are joined together using the Quilt As You Go method.

C continued on with knitting.  A shawl. 

M is continuing her hand pieced quilt.  Can't wait to see this one finished. 

The other R is knitting an "all in one" jacket.  

Knitted in one piece, including the sleeves.  

We are all eager to see how this turns out and are liking the idea of it.

J is continuing on with her La Pasacalgia quilt.  It is growing :). 

W at the night gathering is appliqueing a central medallion.   

These lovely prepared hexagons and very organised holder belong to the quilt below the photo. 

How gorgeous is this?  As you can see by the reel of thread in the case, the hexagons are quite small. 

L is continuing her "1718 Coverlet" quilt blocks. 

J is also paper piecing hexagons. 

Clamshells. 

K is making a table runner using the Japanese technique of Boro.

A trip around the world being made with EPP.

B is making a quilt for a doll cot. 

More EPP in progress.

The other L is following a quilt-a-long using the "Perpetually Hexie" calendar. 

W at the day gathering is appliqueing Liberty fabrics to make a cushion cover. 

V is making a stunning design using a variation of drunkards path and pinwheels. 

Then, for the finale this month - the other J has completed this quilt for one of her family members.  Unfortunately the photo doesn't show the intricate piecing which went into the narrow curved border.  We were all spellbound by the perfect piecing and overall stunning effect.
