Today Kilmore Quilters hosted Vic Quilters Summer Gathering

On Saturday the 29th of March, Kilmore Quilters hosted the Vic Quilters Summer Gathering.

We had approx 120 ladies plus Barry come to the gathering.

Once again our ladies put on a great spread of Morning and Afternoon Tea

Our guests were also able to purchase a wonderful baked potato for lunch.

We had some great traders, some wonderful guest speakers from whom we learnt a lot about Kilmore's History and the need for Bras in Fiji. We collected over 300 bras for the Uplift Fiji project, raised over $300 for charity through raffling a quilt kindly donated by Wendy.

We also got to enjoy lots of wonderful show and tell .

Heather won the Raffle quilt kindly donated by Wendy. All in all a great day out.

Castlemaine Applique Group Quilt Exhibition

Castlemaine, in Central Victoria, will this month host the first ever exhibition of quilts by the Castlemaine Appliqué Group. With 120 members from all over Victoria, this group boasts some of the state’s best quilters.

Around 100 Appliqué Quilts will be on display, including quilts by three members of our own quilting group - Wendy, Jude and Rhonda.

Castlemaine Market Building,
44 Mostyn Street, Castlemaine
Saturday 15 March & Sunday 16 March
9am-4pm.

The Group anticipates between 500 and 800 visitors through their doors with quilters from all over Australia and even as far away as Norway and England coming to Castlemaine to see the Group’s finest quilts on show.

All proceeds from the Exhibition will be used to buy a new Day Chair for the Oncology Department at Northeast Health, Wangaratta Hospital. Patients use these purpose built chairs when they receive chemotherapy. The Castlemaine Appliqué Group wants to buy a new chair for this regional hospital to support the care of cancer patients in their regional area and is hoping to raise $3,500 from the weekend.
Amongst the Group’s members are quilters from all walks of life and all corners of the State; published authors of quilt books, international prize winning designers and machine quilters, quilting teachers, through to relative newcomers to patchwork and appliqué. All are valued members of the Group and share their love of appliqué quilts.

Further Enquires may be directed to Megan Carroll or Corliss Searcey on 03 5472 1881.
