2019 Retreat!

Our Retreat was amazing.  A huge amount of work by all attendees and the following photos say it all.  This post is pure eye-candy deliciousness.

C completed her aboriginal quilt top.  Lovely use of bold print fabrics.

J, who made the cute dog toy at the May 10-10 made this cute little cuddle bunny...

The other J, completed her Japanese Fabric 'scrap' quilt.

Another J was sewing down the binding on her quilt from a pattern by Jen Kingwell.

The same J who made the pinwheel quilt (above) also completed another fun kids quilt...

16 patch quilt using stash from home...

M completed her quilt top from last years Friday night project which was snowball and nine-patch.  Love the fussy cut flowers...

Someone was lucky enough to have Missouri Star fabric and made a small zip bag.

Pele Mele - J's top is almost ready for assembly.

Cat Quilt - after many attempts and some tired sewing, the borders were completed for a very elated J!  :)

To finish off, L made this fabulous solid block colour quilt.

The Retreat was very successful, and even though there were some hiccups, all who were able to attend had a great time.  Next time I need to be quicker with the camera to make sure I get all of the show'n'tell.

Very Snuggly Quilt Making Day

It's always going to be a good day when like minded people come together to sew for a good cause and this Saturday was no exception.  

Very Snuggly Quilts, supported by Victorian Quilters Inc, provides quilts to the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne to children who have long term or terminal illness.  As hospitals are such drab places, these quilts are made with love, to give some colour and life to the room, as well as something of the child's own to cuddle and have with them at all times.

Friendship star blocks are laid out ready for assembly and then neatly stacked when done...

 

These are simple square in a square blocks, which make up into great 'eye-spy' quilts...

The days statistics rounded out to:  

5 quilts completed

21 Friendship Star blocks assembled

4 centres

201 Square in a square blocks assembled

4 quilts quilted

1 pack of 15 shapes appliqued.

That's not bad going considering there were 19 people in attendance on the day

10 Kilmore members

5 from Heathcote Quilters, 

2 from Lancefield Quilters

and Marie Lee with her friend from Rosebud.
